                                                           About the Founder

KK CHARLES COMMUNICATIONS, LLC was founded in 1998 by Anita K. Parran, a native of St.Louis, MO. She earned an undergraduate degree in journalism from Stephens College in Columbia, MO, and M.A. degree in Business Management from Webster University in Webster Groves, MO. She also earned the Certified Communications Professional (CCP) designation from the University of Washington - Department of Communications.
 
Anita began her communication career as Assistant Editor of the Ralston Purina Magazine and Squaretalk, the world headquarters employee newsletter. Over the years, she has enjoyed positions in consumer sales; business market management; magazine editor; and graphic design direction.
 
After relocating to Kansas City, MO in, Anita joined the Urban League of Greater Kansas City as Director of Communications. Simultaneously, she was an adjunct instructor at Park University in Parkville, MO, teaching the Principles of Marketing course in the Evening & Weekend Program. Anita has worked for AARP in communications/public affairs. She is a certified facilitator/trainer for Training of Trainers: Adult Learning (TOT:AL), Community Development (CD), and Direct Action Organizing (DAO).
 
Anita values involvement in professional organizations that support the life long learning experiences, and serves her community by participating in a variety of community, public service, and professional activities and organizations. She relishes mentoring young women as they navigate their professional and personal lives  because she believes in paying it forward. Her personal motto is: "Success is not mesured by what we have. It is about who we are and what we give."

Society of  Professional Journalists (SPJ),  Kansas City Press Club, Association for Women in Communications - Membership Committee Chair, National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), Kansas City Association of Black Journalists (KCABJ) - Secretary, American Association of University Women (AAUW) - Marketing Lead, and National Association of Professional Women (NAPW).

Current Education, Civic and Government Affiliations: Stephens College Board of Trustees, Executive Committee and Student Affairs Committee Chair; Developmental Disability Services for Jackson County-eitas, Past Chair; Missouri Board of Pharmacy, Public Member; Urban League of Greater Kansas City, Board of Directors; Association for Women in Communications, National Board Member and Membership Committee Chair; NAACP; and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Beta Omega Graduate Chapter; 

In past years, Anita has been involved in numerous community activities, including serving on the Boards  of Directors for the Community Blood Center, Harvesters-The Community Food Bank, Central Exchange, University of Missouri-Kansas City Friends of the LIbrary, and Urban League Board of Governors. Anita continues to be an episodic volunteer for a myriad of organizations in the Kansas City community.
